Course information

Designated Safeguarding Lead refresher training (for primary, secondary, further education and other education settings staff completing the accredited DSL programme). For those working in an early years settings/child minders/nurseries, please refer to the Early Years website.

Provides Education Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputy Safeguarding Leads an annual update and refresher of the knowledge, skills, developments and changes relevant to their safeguarding role.

Target group

Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputy Safeguarding Leads who have completed the four safeguarding modules, Identifying safeguarding concerns and making referrals, threshold framework - Right Help at the Right Time MASH/ACP Early Help and Thresholds, Strategy discussion child protection conferences and core group - mock conference and MASH/ACP Open morning, delivered by the Swindon Safeguarding Partnership

Aims and objectives

  • To provide DSLs with an annual update,
  • To understand Swindon local area issues that may affect children
  • To gain information and refresher training to comply with the requirements set out in KCSIE 21
  • To explore new assessment tools
  • To keep up to date with changes to duty
  • To meet professionals from other services and understand their provision
