Course information

Aims to provide delegates with an understanding of how to complete an Early Help Assessment and Plan for children, young people and their families that they are working with. This training will equip practitioners to understand their responsibilities by providing them with the tools required to assess and analyse any unmet needs for these families.

Target group

This is for all staff working with children, young people and/or their parents/carers who could potentially contribute to assessing and planning for the needs of the whole family.

Aims and objectives

  1. To understand the benefit of an Early Help Assessment and Plan to a Child, young person and their family.
  2. To explore tools used to complete a comprehensive Early Help Assessment and Plan .
  3. To demonstrate the knowledge, skills, behaviours and tools available to work with children/young people with the Early Help stages of intervention.   
  4. To explore the practical application of tools and opportunities to build relationships with families, empowering them to jointly assess their needs and helping them to identify how to move forward to achieve the outcomes necessary. 
  5. To identify ways of developing clear measurable action plans and guidance on the role of the worker who co-ordinates and supports the family with the plan.
  6. To understand the Threshold document and the level of concerned required for escalation.
