Training COVID 19 Update!

Dear colleagues

In light of  government guidance and the availability of trainers, at this time we will be cancelling all our face to face multi-agency training courses until at least 31st December 2020.  We will do our very best to reschedule dates for next year but this will be subject to further advice on the management of the coronavirus outbreak.

To ensure fairness in the allocation of places for future courses, the online booking system for all face to face courses has been suspended.

However you are still able to access our range of virtual courses and E-Learning by going to the training page and the Virtual Courses & E-learning tab on the right hand side under 'Related Pages'.

Please see the training page of the SSP website for any news and updates.

Update on the 2021-22 SSP training programme. Key features are:

  • Due to the ongoing restrictions and uncertainty, relating to the Covid-19 pandemic all courses will continue to be delivered virtually for 2021-22.
  • The multi-agency training offer will comprise of core modules for practitioners working to safeguard children and adults.
  • There is a new multi-agency training programme for safeguarding adults.
  • The modules will replace the levels of training previously used by SSP as levels can mean different standards across our partnership organisations and has previously caused some confusion.
  • These modules will be aimed at professionals working directly face to face with children and adults across all agencies.
  • For staff who may require a basic/awareness level training, such as administrators and receptionists, online and within-agency training is recommended by the SSP. Access to free eLearning resources are available on the SSP website, and provide this basic online training.
  • However, we are aware that NHS staff still work to levels and evidence of these are required for CQC. These modules will all be at the NHS level 3.
  • There will also be additional specialist/advanced courses relevant to practitioners working locally to safeguard children, adults or both.
  • More use of blended learning opportunities such as 7 minute briefs, themed practice briefings these can be accessed here.
  • A tailored programme will be provided for schools – details will be released at a later date.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
