Course information

We recommend completing the ‘adult identifying safeguarding concerns and making referrals’ module prior to undertaking this module.

This course provides delegates who already have safeguarding experience and knowledge with the opportunity to consolidate and expand their knowledge and skills specifically in the areas outlined in the course aims and objectives.

It will also explore the skills required to work together to promote the welfare of adults in complex and challenging situations and to safeguard within local policies and procedures.

Target group

This is multi agency training for staff in a wide variety of frontline jobs and practice roles across a range of agencies within the safeguarding partnership.

Aim

To explore the screening process, S42 enquiries, planning meetings and adult safeguarding plans.

Objectives

  1. Delegates able to demonstrate knowledge and use of relevant legislation and local procedures when making decisions and assessing risk to safeguard adults at risk.    
  2. Delegates able to describe the skills for critical thinking and professional curiosity when assessing risk and enquiring into abuse.
  3. Delegates enabled to identify the skills and knowledge required by professionals when responding and undertaking enquiries into abuse, particularly enquiry actions, interviewing skills and report writing.
  4. Delegates will have  explored the principles of Safeguarding including Wellbeing, Mental Capacity, Making Safeguarding Personal, (ensuring the voice of the service user/carer is heard and documented), and information sharing.
  5. Delegates will have information on how to respond to allegations against staff/persons in a position of trust.  (Please note this is covered in the Handout)
