Target group

This is specialist training for owners/managers/directors and each settings designated senior manager who has oversight and management of allegations against staff/volunteers who work with children and young people within Swindon. Please note, this role is not the same as a designated safeguarding lead and should be a person who can make management decisions regarding a persons employment. There should be one person nominated from each organisation to attend this training every 3 years

This course aims to assist learners in dealing effectively with allegations against staff and promoting safe working practice by staff, thereby reducing the risk of allegations of inappropriate conduct and harm to children. The training will equip practitioners to understand the context and their responsibilities when safeguarding children.

  • Promote safer practices within your organisation
  • Identify concerns and respond to allegations about staff
  • Follow local and national guidance
  • Understand the responsibilities of your role and other professionals in responding to concerns
  • Carry out your duty to remove unsuitable people from the workforce if necessary
