Course information

This course has been developed by the NSPCC to provide professionals working with children and families with a base-level understanding of CSA.

Participants will be provided with the opportunity to review and consider insights from the research base for CSA.

You will be supported to work through a case study using the 4Rs of safeguarding: Recognising Abuse/ Behaviour of offender: Responding: Reporting and Recording, to look at the impact of CSA, on the young person, the family and wider community/society.

This process supports delegates to recognise their role and responsibility in addressing CSA.

  • Utilise appropriate language when referring to or speaking about CSA
  • Recognise the vast and complex issues within the research base around CSA
  • Determine ways to support most vulnerable groups at risk for CSA
  • Identify the ways child sexual abuse can impact children, their families, and society
  • Recall the 4 R’s and put them into practice (Recognise, Respond, Report, Record)
  • Summarise and share best practice with other professionals within their network
