This session aims to provide delegates with an understanding of what modern slavery looks like within the community and how to spot the signs of potential victims of modern slavery. 

This training will equip practitioners in how to refer a potential victim of modern slavery for support via the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) or to other supporting services.

Target group

This is for all practitioners who work with adults, children and young people.

Aims and objectives

  • To understand what Medaille Trust do and how they support survivors of modern slavery
  • To explore what human trafficking and modern slavery is and the different types of modern slavery
  • To understand how to report a concern or access help for a potential victim of modern slavery and trafficking
  • To understand the processes of the support system – National Referral Mechanism (NRM)     
  • To identify indicators of exploitation (spot the signs)
  • To understand the Moving on Project and how to make a referral
