Please note: Pre-requisite training: you must have completed the eLearning Supporting and Exploring Child Development (awareness level) - Swindon Safeguarding Partnership prior to attending this module as learners build on knowledge gained at each level.

Please complete the evaluation form and save your certificate to provide proof of completion.

Target group

This training will be relevant for frontline professionals working with children and families. 

This will be particularly relevant to those working with toddlers to 3 ½ years of age.

Aims and objectives

  • To further explore brain development in babies and young children-making connections and pruning  
  • To further explore the concept of attachment reactions to separation and the emergence of independence
  • To investigate the importance of play linked to child development
  • To recognise the importance of schema and how to support them
  • To understand the development of communication and language skills
  • To recognise the importance of the enabling environment in child development, physical development and promoting independence
