Course information

These events are an opportunity for practitioners to improve their knowledge of child criminal exploitation, focusing on county lines and the associated risks, such as financial exploitation, sexual assault, physical violence and emotional/psychological abuse.

Whilst the sessions are focusing on child exploitation the content of the sessions would also be relevant for those working with adults with care and support needs.

The session will cover:

  • all aspects of county lines, how they operate in rural areas, the tier system, how they recruit young people and signs to look out for
  • how county lines communicate on social media
  • what it is like for parents and carers and the support they require
  • shared personal stories from experienced expert
  • strategies, best engagement, trauma and behaviours, mapping and NRM

The intended outcomes are:

  • Having a clearer understanding of county lines and child criminal exploitation and the impact on children and families
  • An improved understanding of the child/victims journey into county lines, to allow earlier identification of child criminal exploitation an improved early intervention to safeguard those at risk
  • An improved understanding of how to better interact with victims of county lines by adopting a child first and trauma informed approach
