The DfE Young Champions project produced a Student Voice audit toolkit for education providers. The toolkit is editable and can also be applied to any agency or service working with young people.

The toolkit has been designed by young champions and is a mechanism for agencies to ensure young people in their setting understand how to report safeguarding concerns and where to access support within the setting.

This toolkit also includes questions around mental health support. However, the audit tool can be expanded upon and co-produced by young people in individual settings to make it relevant to your service.

Student Voice audit for education providers

The student voice audit is not mandatory and provides added value and assurance. This audit complements the S175 audit where education settings choose to utilise it in terms of assuring themselves about student and staff knowledge of safeguarding.

Education providers can submit their audit results to the SSP BSU for inclusion in the quarterly data return reported to the SSP Executive.

CYP audit for services

The audit can be used by any service or agency working with young people as part of a self-assessment audit in relation to safeguarding arrangements. It can be completed in conjunction with the SSP Section 11 and Care Act self-assessment audit, or on its own.

Services can submit their audit findings to the SSP BSU for inclusion in the quarterly data return reported to the SSP Executive.
