Disclosure and Barring Service: Faith in Safeguarding pop-up clinics

Published: Tuesday, 28th April 2026

Did you know there may be situations where you have a legal duty to make a DBS barring referral if safeguarding concerns arise?

Understanding when this duty applies — and how to act correctly and confidently — is an important part of safeguarding vulnerable groups including children.

Come and join us at our free DBS Faith in Safeguarding pop-up clinic in Bristol on Wednesday, 6 May 2026 between 9.30am to 1.00pm.

The session will support you to:

  • understand when a legal duty exists to make a DBS barring referral
  • learn how to submit a referral correctly and what information DBS requires
  • ask questions specific to your setting
  • connect with others involved in safeguarding

Each session provides practical guidance and the opportunity to ask questions in a supportive environment.

Please note: Spaces are limited.

Who should attend?

The event is particularly relevant for those who hold safeguarding or leadership responsibilities, including safeguarding leads, trustees, faith leaders and those overseeing staff or volunteers.

It will help you to:

  • gain clarity on legal duties and best practice
  • understand how barring referrals fit into safer recruitment
  • feel confident about when and how to escalate safeguarding concerns
